Boracay Escapade – For the Bold & Adventurous

Apart from being a sweet escapade for the Hopeless Romantics, Boracay also offers a rush of adrenaline for the Bold and Adventurous.

I shall skip the excessive descriptions and jump straight into the action. Let the photos roll!

EH??? SNORKELING FIRST??!!!   I’m a terrible swimmer….

Travelgraphy.wordpress.com_2587

Nearly choked myself to death with salty seawater…  But the view under that pristine water was well worth of my “near-death experience” :)

Smith: Oolala, let me steal a juicy coconut~

Vigilant Coconut Seller: Caughtcha! Pay money or get beaten up!

Heard of “Helmet Dive” before? It’s the easiest, dummy-proof form of diving, where one could walk on the seabed and still be able to breathe with ease — thanks to this 30-kg helmet which serves as an oxygen tank. Air is pumped into the helmet and the pressure that comes along is able to push the water down to chin level.

A short video showing how easy the process is! :)

Jump off the cliff, shall we? ;)

The Ariel’s Point Cliff Dive is ranked #1 out of 29 attractions in Boracay, based on TripAdvisor’s reviews.

It was also my #1 most-anticipated activity before setting off.

Post-trip verdict? Yes, it was extremely fun!

With dive-points of varying heights to choose from (3m, 5m, 8m, 13m), you can cherry-pick the level of insanity to go through. Not all of us jumped, but for those who did, we picked the 5m challenge, except for Han Joo, who went heroically ahead with 8m (and her bravery was celebrated with a glorious patch of bruises on both thighs).

It does look pretty mild from afar, and more so from the photograph. But let me warn you, that’s as deceiving as it can get.  I had to summon every single ounce of courage to take that final plunge.

The trick to achieving this? Self-affirmation: “If I could jump off from the world’s highest bungy point at 233m, what’s a 5m kindergarten-level cliff dive?” :D

What if, the ugly fish doesn’t turn into a charming prince upon sacrificing a kiss…..??

EAT IT!

A leap of joy

Had enough of water sports? Let’s hang our clothes dry and explore onshore!

WEEEEEEE ~~~~~~~

First time riding a Segway (a 2-wheeled, self-balancing scooter), surprisingly easy! Within 5 minutes I was already speeding. Oops.  ;)

At an elevation of about 25m above sea level, a cable length of 300m and a slope of 30 degrees, this jumbo-size flying fox guarantees a spectacular view and an adrenaline rush that will keep you wanting for more!

Travelgraphy.wordpress.com_3710

A captivating backdrop in blue welcomed us as we individually glided down the cable, an imposing contrast to the massive green underneath.

Travelgraphy.wordpress.com_3717

Thumbs up for the awesome view!

贊!

Atsuko can do a “V” using both her hands and legs!   A true Ninja!!

zipline

Apparently, other than the usual boring sit-up position, there’s also this cool-looking superman position available!! Too bad we didn’t get to try it.

Travelgraphy.wordpress.com_4161

Another Zipline spot can be found atop the Luho Mt.

Zorbing, simply put, means “hamster-balling”  :D

zorbing

The video isn’t clear enough to show how much of a “clumsy hamster” I was to have hit my right eye with my left knee. Ouch.

Safety first. Speak to the operator for safety advice before going down.

Travelgraphy.wordpress.com_4148

Now for something that’s a lot less dangerous but equally fun! ATV up the Mt Luho!

These ATVs look like colourful mantis to me, somehow…

Travelgraphy.wordpress.com_4129

Vroom Vroom~ these big mountain toys certainly brought out the inner child in us

Travelgraphy.wordpress.com_4246

A thrilling ride in the woods post-sunset.

Travelgraphy_2561

An enjoyable trip is only complete when with the best of companions. I was exceedingly grateful to be able to share my Boracay moments with these lovely folks! :)

Travelgraphy_3206

  1. Good day! This post could not be written any better! Reading this post reminds me of my previous room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this post to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!

  2. This design is spectacular! You obviously know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
